Nutritional supplements for bones and joints - joint nutrients and how they work
In the course of their lives, people cover up to 100,000 kilometers on foot - in addition to physical work and strength and fitness sports. Our bones and joints therefore act as shock absorbers, which are subject to increased wear and tear. Similar to the musculature, the bone and joint apparatus also needs appropriate nutrition to regenerate and maintain its function. For a healthy skeleton, the human organism needs calcium and vitamin D in particular. Calcium is a mineral and is the building material that makes up bone tissue.
Vitamin D contributes to the functional absorption and utilization of all bone-building minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. The mineral magnesium also protects against premature bone wear. The minerals zinc, manganese and the vital substance vitamin K are also important for these processes. In this context, cartilage, joints, tendons and ligaments also require a variety of essential nutrients to ensure optimal lubrication and sustainable regeneration. Glucosamine, chondroitin, collagen and vitamin C are therefore particularly important minerals and vital substances for building up joints and regenerating the tendon and ligament apparatus.
Use nutritional supplements for bones & joints
Independent of sporting activity or physical work, the mineral calcium should be included in the diet in sufficient form. Natural foods such as dairy products are excellent sources of calcium. Calcium can also be supplemented in powder form, as effervescent tablets and in capsule and tablet form. The dietary supplement glucosamine sulphate is equally helpful for active sports users. This occurs naturally in the human body and is used to build up cartilage tissue and synovial fluid. In many places, the active ingredient chondroitin sulphate is added to this food supplement, which is also an important component of human cartilage tissue and makes it resistant to potential compression.
In the winter months in particular, an additional intake of the vital substances vitamin C, vitamin D and vitamin K is recommended to ensure the best possible bone and joint health. Vitamin K makes a comprehensive intake of the vital substance vitamin D possible in the first place, which can then have a positive effect on bone and cartilage formation. In this context, vitamin C helps with the synthesis of collagen, which is particularly important for joint formation. Supplementing magnesium and zinc is also helpful - eating bananas, nuts and wholegrain cereals can effectively supplement the additional intake of both minerals.
